Lalique Interior Design Studio lights up Singapore Airlines new Silverkris lounge
Lalique has created two large scale custom designed light installations, a crystal dome and wall, to be discovered within the new SilverKris Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3.
The Lalique light dome, which adorns the lobby of the Private Room, which offers Singapore Airlines (SIA) Suites and First Class customers a private and sophisticated space to rest and relax, comprises more than 107 crystal flowers inspired by Aquatic Ginger, one of the 10 native flowers in SIA’s batik motif. They are designed by Marc Larminaux, Lalique’s Artistic and Creative Director, working closely with Adeline Lunati, Head of the Lalique Interior Design Studio. Created to appear as if it is ‘a crystal bouquet floating in the sky’ the complex suspended installation is set against a dense foliage of polished metal leaves to further enhance the brightness of the flowers. Each light embedded into the satin polished crystal flower diffuses and evolves in terms of intensity and colour according to the time of day.
For the bar area in the First Class section of the SilverKris Lounge, Lalique has created a crystal wall installation using 119 crystal aquatic ginger crystal flowers – each one was positioned manually on the wall to sympathetically follow the curved shape of the space. With leaves that are folded by hand one by one, each flower was carefully installed with metal strips to naturally guide and form a stem that appears to spread on the wall. When lit, the wall blossoms into a welcoming and elegant crystal light using embedded fibre optics.
Lalique and SIA have collaborated since 2017 when a strategic partnership was announced to join forces and enhance the travelling experience in SIA’s Suites and First Class cabins. The partnership combines the savoir-faire and savoir-vivre of Lalique with the excellence of one of the world’s finest airlines.
The SilverKris Lounge, which includes The Private Room and the First Class section, opened on 31 May 2022.
